Defending PC strategies
first take a look at how our opponents defend PCs
Our attacking PC strategies
Below are links to animations of all the PC plays we have practiced. Although the number may seem daunting, to help you remember them all, I have organised them into "families." There are many similarities within families and between families. Apart from the "Direct hit at or towards goal" family, the principle is always the same, namely to move the ball into the space behind the "first wave" of defenders and then to move/commit the GK and find our player with the largest target. While we have a number of ways to get the ball into this space, once there the options for putting the ball into the goal are the same. Remember the target is the area of the goal face minus the area which the GK can cover. An attacker near the PS spot will not necessarily have the largest target when confronted by a well-set GK in the centre of his goal, an attacker near either post is likely to "see" a larger target. Take some time and try to familiarise yourself with the role of all the players in each play but particularly memorise your likely role(s) in each one. I have given some indication of which roles each of you should concentrate on. View the corner animations in conjunction with the notes on defensive strategies to see what we are trying to achieve with each play. Good luck!
